Interview questions
The questions asked in almost every interview, with a simple way to answer each. Say your answer aloud first, then open the model answer.
Introduction
Tell me about yourself.
Keep it to about a minute: your name and where you are from, your education, your skills, any work or training, and why you want this job. End with what you can do for them.
Why should we hire you?
Link your skills to the job: "You need someone who can do data entry quickly and correctly. I type 35 words a minute, I know Excel, and I finished my course project on time."
Strengths
What are your strengths?
Name two or three and give a short example for each - for example, being punctual (never late in my training) and learning fast.
What is your weakness?
Choose a real but small weakness and show how you are fixing it: "I used to hesitate to speak in English, so I practise every day and I am improving."
Motivation
Why do you want to work here?
Show you know something about the company - what it does and why that interests you - and how the role fits your plans.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Show growth in the same field: "I want to become skilled in this work and take on more responsibility, maybe lead a small team."
Salary
What salary do you expect?
Know the usual range for the role. Say: "As a fresher I expect around ₹X, but I am open to what is fair for this role."
Experience
Why did you leave your last job?
Stay positive and never blame anyone: "I learnt a lot there, and now I am looking for a role with more growth."
Practical
Are you comfortable with shifts or travel?
Answer honestly. If you can, say yes clearly; if there are limits, say what you can do.
Closing
Do you have any questions for us?
Always ask one or two: "What would my first month look like?" or "How is performance reviewed?"
